Only MaxxECU GEN2 have a built-in Real Time Clock (shortly called RTC).
Optional constant 12V to keep the clock running longer than 2 weeks with the ECU off.
The real-time clock (RTC) is only used to timestamp ECU-logs. If you don't need the exact time/date in the logs you don't need to care about this.
The RTC is powered by an internal supercapacitor, which keeps the time for about three weeks when the ECU is not powered. When the ECU is on, it recharges in about 10 minutes.
If you need the RTC on a vehicle that's off for extended periods, you can connect a constant 12V source to one of the 12V supply inputs and set that to Constant 12V supply. This will keep the RTC running indefinitely.
The Constant 12V supply current is about 0.6mA. The RTC is automatically set when MTune or MDash is connected.
